about cg design house
cg design house is me. Courtney. I won’t try to trick you into believing I’m some huge “full-service” firm with a team of fifty people busy at the helm by using the term “we”. It’s just me. I’ve been doing graphic design for almost 12 years in which time I’ve acquired a well-rounded, working education in design studios, , in-house departments, advertising agencies and alas, as an independent. I take my client’s work seriously, while still enjoying what I do and I believe in deadlines (I’ll keep yours, if you keep yours), and quality of work. I have connections. Networks of quality, reliable connections. So if there is anything you need that is outside of my scope of practice, chances are very good I can give you a great referral for a quality someone.
I’ve developed a solid philosophy about design and the value of design over the years which is basically this: Design isn’t just a shiny candy coating, but is often treated that way. Effective design makes information (even the most complex information) accessible to the viewer and easy to understand, no matter the level of complexity. Good design works, not just because it’s inviting to look at, but because the information is engaging, easy to navigate, understandable and relevant – whether you’re talking about cupcakes or Aqueous Dispersions and Emulsions. (Thank you, Google!)
I know for a fact that there is a misconception about the process by which effective design is created and the time it takes to make it happen. We call this the “Myth of the Easy Button”. In my experience, the success of any sales and marketing strategy hinges on good process and planning. More on this topic here.
